About me

Friendly, efficient, and reliable

Prior to embarking on freelance proofreading and copy-editing, I worked in the travel industry for over twenty-five years and established a travel business with my husband. My corporate experience encompassed all aspects of operating a business. I was wholly involved in sales, marketing, administration, accounts, producing holiday brochures, and with the advent of the Internet, setting up a website. It was during those years of copious brochure production that a love of editing and proofreading came to the fore — I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process — from the initial stages of design, copywriting, copy-editing, right down to proofreading the end product. I have, therefore, been informally proofreading and copy- editing for a long time! In addition, the nature of the travel business requires the utmost accuracy — on all types of documentation. It is vitally important for details to be checked and double-checked; therefore, precision becomes second nature. I have a BA (Hons) degree in Humanities — hence my interest in an extensive range of subjects; and I have completed the Proofreading and Copy-editing courses with Chapterhouse Publishing. I am bilingual — English and Greek, and understand French (written and spoken) up to A-level standard. I am happy to proofread/copy-edit material ranging from books to blogs in a wide variety of subjects — with the exception of science and mathematics. I enjoy the formality of non-fiction books and academic/educational texts, and the informality of popular fiction and blogs. I also have experience in writing newsletters on a number of different topics. In my spare time I am an avid reader of historical fiction and non- fiction; and of course, I enjoy travelling (actively seeking out 'hidden gems'). Food also plays a major part in my life and would travel miles to visit a highly-recommended restaurant.
